Before receiving his Palmtop, Shane was having a hard time verbally communicating with teachers and classmates, which in turn made it difficult for him to fully participate in school activities. With a loan from the MATLF, Shane’s parents, Mike and Patti, were able to purchase a portable Palmtop.

Shane’s junior high school speech therapist was able to customize the device, as well as program the voice, speed, and volume. Shane uses his Palmtop to place his own order at restaurants or to speak to friends, family, and neighbors.
