Before they acquired the equipment, Rachel’s parents, Paul and Lori, had to lift Rachel and her wheelchair into vehicles themselves – which was enough to sometimes make them think twice about going places. Rachel has Rett syndrome, a developmental disorder that causes functional problems in the brain.

"My back is so thankful now," Lori says. "Friends and relatives provided a much-appreciated fund raiser for our van, but we still needed help for the adaptations. The loan fund provided the final resource for a wheelchair lift to complete our adapted van."
